Safety and age policy
Updated August 2026
Most of the people this is built for are in high school. That fact changes what we are obliged to do, so this page says plainly what we ask, what we keep, and what the software will and will not write.
You are reading evidence written by AI
DebAGI is software, not a person. No coach reads your order and no researcher cuts your cards. An AI model finds the sources, picks the passages, writes the tags and decides what gets underlined.
The quotations themselves are not written by the model. Every card body is text copied from a real published source, and a script diffs it against the downloaded original before the file is sent. What is generated is everything around the quotation, and that is the part worth checking before you read it in a round.
Say so if your league, your coach or your opponent asks. Every file now ships with the full source of every card, so the claim is one you can substantiate rather than assert.
You have to be 13 or older
Before an invite code can be redeemed, every account answers one question: date of birth. We work out whether you are under 18 from it and store only that answer. The date itself is never written to the database.
- Under 13: no account. This is the line the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act draws, and we do not operate below it.
- 13 to 17: you give a parent or guardian's email address and confirm they know you are using DebAGI. We email them once, saying what the product is and how to close the account. We do not email them again and we do not add them to anything.
- 18 or over: nothing further is asked.
A guardian who wants the account closed can reply to that email or write to invites@debagi.tech. We will delete it and everything attached to it, and we will not ask why.
What the software will not produce
There is no chat window. An order is four dropdowns and a description of a debate argument, and the only thing that comes back is a file of evidence on the resolution you named. It is not a general-purpose assistant, it does not hold a conversation, and it has no way to talk to you.
It also will not fabricate. It does not paraphrase a source and present the paraphrase as a quotation, invent an author, a date or a URL, or cut behind a paywall it cannot read. Where the free portion of an article stops, the card stops and the cite says so.
What we hold, and what we do not
Your email address, your age bracket, a guardian’s address if you are under 18, and the orders you place. Not your date of birth. Not a payment card, because nothing is being charged for. The full list is on the privacy page.
Reporting something
If a card does not check out, if the software produces something it should not have, or if you are a parent, coach or school with a question about an account, write to invites@debagi.tech. A bad cut takes about thirty seconds to falsify because every cite carries the URL it came from, and we would rather fix the check that let it through than close a ticket.
Generation runs on Anthropic’s models, under their usage policies and their guidelines for organisations serving minors.
For coaches and parents
The honest description of what this changes: a debater using DebAGI spends less time cutting cards and more time deciding what to do with them. That is a real trade, and whether it is a good one for a particular student is a judgement we are not in a position to make for you.
What we would say is that a file is a starting point and reads like one. Handed a file they did not cut and did not read, a debater goes straight down the page and everyone in the room can tell. The work that makes the difference is the same work it always was.
